Experience is Everything!
Throughout the past 20 or so years, I have worked tirelessly for big organisations. I started out as an admin assistant, worked up to a personal assistant, to an executive assistant, and then finally as an Executive Officer where I was responsible for the day to day running and overseeing the business of a research institute. I have vast experience from the ground up - starting at the bottom, learning how things are done, and moving up the ladder swiftly due to my strong work ethic.
My passion for digital marketing and graphic design started more than 20 years ago when I was working on a very large expansion project here in Newcastle, helping to build infrastructure for one of the largest coal exporters in the southern hemisphere, Port Waratah Coal Services. I began as a Personal Assistant to the Project Manager and along with many other responsibilities, found myself pulling together, editing and producing a glossy newsletter on a monthly basis. And voila! My passion for communications and graphic design was born.
From here I continued to climb the ladder, learning more and more about business, finance, marketing and design when I took my last big corporate role as an Executive Officer at the University of Newcastle, overseeing the business functions of a research institute. My time here allowed me to grow as a person and professionally while learning even more about marketing, graphic design, communications, stakeholder relations, finance and event/project management.
Running very large corporate events, along with extremely large public events (picture 8000+ people in attendance plus stallholders and sponsors), allowed me to learn from the ground up about good effective marketing, communications, graphic design, stakeholder relations, project management, social media management, website design and SEO. I again learned from the ground up, starting with the fundamentals and gaining qualifications along with my on the job experience.
Having roles in the real world has meant that I have been exposed to a lot of varying situations and people, and has taught me how to problem-solve, work smarter not harder, engage with stakeholders on their level, and most importantly the value of good communication. How lucky am I?!
I have had experience creating flyers, posters, conference booklets, stakeholder sponsorship prospectus', delegate handbooks for conferences, banners, signage, apparel, promotional products, logos, business stationery, social media posts, curated and created content, website design, SEO, management of social media channels alongside traditional marketing (think back to newspaper advertisements and good old media releases). I have even been part of producing a book!
So as you can see, I have a load of real-world experience, and I am here to help problem-solve any design, communication, marketing or website issue you may have. Please get in touch with me today to see how I can assist you and your business.
WHO AM I?
Hi I am Belinda, I am a dog-loving (actually - let's be real - I'm an animal lover all round), netball playing, coffee drinking (sometimes substituting this with wine depending on how my day went) owner of Little Bird Digital Marketing.
My passion is helping people, and you will often find me volunteering to help someone out.
I love planning and details. Generally quiet, I am usually taking it all in (hence the details bit) which works well for my clients.
Why "Little Bird"? Well, the explanation is simple. You would have heard the saying "A little bird told me" - right? Well, we want to be the ones to spread your news - we'll be your "little bird". Plus as I mentioned above, I do love animals!
